Hi ,
Holiday traditions are in full swing, and that means it's time to bring out the gingerbread! Even if you don't like to eat gingerbread, it's still a great way to get in the kitchen with your family and spend some quality time baking and making memories. You can use the gingerbread to make a gingerbread house, or even a little gingerbread man. We have some fun activities you can use to tie in your homeschooling lessons with the
season! These resources have been designed to add a little fun to your classroom, so students won't even know they are learning.
Learning to count is the most basic and necessary skill to have when your child is first learning math. With this free printable Christmas Game, students will learn how to count and identify numbers 11 to 20. This is a great way to expand on your preschooler’s budding math skills while adding a holiday touch. Provide
your student with gumdrops, spree, peppermints, mini-poms, or any small manipulative they can use to count. Students spin, then fill the roof with the correct number of candies.
There is just something so fun about homeschooling during the holiday season! With all the fun Christmas activities, games, and crafts, the classroom is always filled with delicious smells and festive projects. One of my favorite activities is to work in some hands-on learning with Christmas playdough mats. Today, I’ve got
a free set of Christmas Cookie Play Dough Mats that you can use with scented playdough (gingerbread playdough recipe here), mini-erasers, candy canes, or even cookies.
One of my favorite holiday scents is that of fresh gingerbread baking in the oven and luckily there is more than one way to enjoy it! Whipping up a batch of Gingerbread Play dough makes the whole house smell great and gives the kids hours of fun and holiday play. Far easier than baking homemade
cookies, it takes only about 15 minutes and it’s ready to be kneaded, rolled, and shaped into darling little gingerbread men or any shape your child wants to create. You will definitely want to get in on the fun too, as sensory scented play dough is a great stress relief around the holidays!
For students learning how to read, sight words are of great importance. While phonics will provide your students with a solid foundation in reading, sight words are just as important for fluency and speed. Sight words are words that cannot be sounded out phonetically, and thus must be memorized. We’ve put together a fun set of games you can use to teach your students common sight words.
