Memorial Day is a National Holiday, and while children and teachers have the day off of school it is important to recognize this Day of Remembrance in your classroom.

The fact is, Freedom is not free. Thousands have laid down their lives protecting our country  and even young children can start to understand the basics of what that sacrifice means.

If you are able I would encourage you create handmade cards, letters, or simple coloring pages to give to veterans and families of fallen soldiers.
