Secular Homeschooling?

Published: Tue, 05/26/15

Hi ,

Yesterday I sent you a huge list of helpful links for shopping the BYB 2015 Homeschool Sale with the promise of diving in a little deeper to share with you why this sale is so amazing!

Today I wanted to talk with you about the Secular Bundle.  This is a brand new bundle and includes over $445 worth of curriculum for the price of $69.
Now, if you're like me $69 is still a pretty good chunk out of your budget (I'm a freebie and used curriculum kind of a gal!), but I want to show you why this bundle is such a great deal and how you can really stretch your homeschool dollars with this collection.

Why Am I Recommending a Secular Bundle?  Okay, if you've been on my websites for any amount of time you know that I am a strong advocate for Christian homeschooling.  However, in this case secular doesn't mean Non-Christian. The Secular bundle was created because it is void of religious discussion, and doesn't promote or contradict our Christian Faith

Personally, I use secular resources in my homeschool all the time, and look for opportunities to verbally share God's plan for my children through out the teaching. I wouldn't want you miss out on this bundle because of the title. Secular resources can be very useful in your Christian homeschool, especially when they are priced like this!

So What is Included in the Secular Bundle?  Science, Art, History, Math, Geography, Language Arts, Health, Planners and so much more!  Check out the details below:

Ellen McHenry's Science Curriculum - (Choice of One) - $14.95 Value

Ellen McHenry's Science Curriculum was a BIG hit last year and she has come back to join us again this year! In this secular bundle you will get to choose ONE of the following. If you want more than one, they are also available in the "Build Your Own" options.

The Elements
A basic introduction to the fundamental concepts of chemistry, but with the interest level of the text and activities geared to students who still like to play while they learn. The student text combines very "meaty" content with whimsical humor, and the teacher’s section has lots of activities, games, songs, crafts, etc. All of these activities provide high-quality learning - they are not "fluff." The curriculum is intended to prepare students for high school chemistry.

The Brain - An Introduction to Neurology
This curriculum has two levels in order to accommodate students of varying ages and ability levels. Everyone does level one, and those who are capable do level two as well. The target age group is ages 8-13.Topics covered in student text: History of brain research, basic anatomy of the brain, blood-brain barrier, roles of left and right hemispheres, savant syndrome, neurons, other types of brain cells (the unsung heroes!), how nerve impulses travel, neuron networks, learning and memory, the peripheral nervous system, reflexes, sleep, brain doctors, basic brain problems.

Carbon Chemistry - An Introduction to Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry for Ages 9-14.
This curriculum is designed to be a follow-up to “The Elements,” which is also found in the 4th-6th Grade Bundles, as well as in the "Build Your Own" options. The style of the text (including the bits of whimsical humor) is the same as in "The Elements," but the student text is more substantial and therefore requires more reading. The activities are still very fun and age appropriate.
